Midwives Day – Blues v Wigan

Tuesday, April 30th, 2019

On Saturday 27th April, ‘Kids Need Both Parents’ were the Main Match Sponsors for the Birmingham City v Wigan game. We decided to run a competition and invite people to nominate midwives for a VIP Day Out at the Blues to reward their hard work, dedication and for often working unsociable hours. ‘Kids Need Both Parents’ believe that midwives are very special due to the nature of their job as they are there at the very beginning, bringing the most precious gift of life into the world with the families that they work with.

Here are two of the winning entries:

Hello i would like to nominate my mom. She works very hard. She went to university when she was 33 with 4 children to look after as well. So I am very proud of her. My mom has also been working very hard on her days off. introducing “the theatre cap challenge” into the hospitals so people will be more safe when having a operation. Now the hospital thinks it’s great and have brought hats for all the doctors. So I think she needs a day off a nice meal and watch the blues win.  Rio Carey

Our mummy’s name is Marie Rivett and she works as a midwife at Worcester hospital and she’s very special to us as we know what hard work she puts in and long  hours day and night caring and supporting the ladies who are about to give birth and also supporting the ladies who have had their babies with helping them breastfeed their newborns and we’re especially proud of her for winning the 2018 British breastfeeding support worker of the year as well as her full time job as a midwife,  Alfie and Annabelle  Wilkes age 10 and 7

Both of the midwives brought their families with them to celebrate in the Jasper Carrot Suite.

The match finished 1-1 and the children got to meet the ‘Man of the Match’ Lukas Jutkiewicz who scored the goal for the Blues!
