With February half term quickly approaching 16th-20th February. We know how easy it is for kids to get bored, KNBP have picked fun activities and events you can do across Britain, suitable for all kinds of weather.

Back to nature

Forest

KNBP understand how the thought of being cooped up in the house with the kids can fill you with dread. So why take them along to Epping Forest Field Centre, near Essex. It runs family activity events from pond dipping to stargazing.

Wild Woodland Camp

In Surrey, near Cobham they run Wild Woodland Camps, where kids can have a wild half term with tracking, wild art, bushcraft, archery and orienteering. Cooking required.

Bird-Theme

In North Yorkshire, families can follow a bird-themed trail around the stunning grounds of the 12th Century Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Garden. If the weather is bad, head to Swanley Grange Learning Centre for nature themed crafts and bird box making.

The Brighton Science Festival is in full swing during the February half term with child-friendly workshops happening all week. With building robot workshops and building your very own Lego animals ? there really is something for everyone.

The focus during half term week at Enginuty, is flight. This is just one part of the great museum found at the Ironbridge Gorge Industrial Heritage Centre in Shropshire. It?s an interactive activity where children can make and launch their own rocket out of craft materials.

The Hunterian Museum at the Royal College of Surgeons in London has a collection of anatomy specimens and surgical instruments. This may not seem like the obvious choice for a fun day out but the museum offer friendly tours of the gallery and the chance to meet a 17th century barber surgeon.

The University of Exeter will be a hive of creativity during February half term. With ?I Don?t Believe in Unicorns? running from 12th-15th. ?BSO ? Hereos and Superheroes II on 19th February.

In the West Midlands at The Public, there will be a theme of workshops for children. With Family Craft Day on Monday 18th February. Den Building Day on 20th February. Freehand Puppet Show on 21st February. For children ages 4 upwards.

Make sure your shoes are polished, clothes are immaculate and you are standing up straight. The ever popular Jorvik Viking Festival is back in York 14th– 22nd February. It attracts 40,000 visitors with its mix of battle re-enactments, guided walks and family events. You can find out about the animals Vikings kept. Dress as a Viking and make your very own mini longboat, go on a trail, set up a camp just like they did 1,000 years ago, watch a fun animated film and much more!

 

 

 

Evacuee Experience

Twentieth-century history will come under the spotlight at Nothe Fort in Weymouth. They run an Evacuee Experience Family Day on 18th February from 10am. Tickets are £9. It?s a full days experience with an introductory film. Visit the 1940?s shop, kitchen, classroom, shelter complete with sound effects and dress up in 1940?s costume. Wartime lunch is included in price.

James Bond cars at Beaulieu Motor Museum

Wannabe 007?s can race a James Bond style Aston Martin on a giant eight lane Scalextric track at Beaulieu National Motor Museum in Hampshire and this February they are getting hands on! Young visitors can pick up a pass book and collect stamps at each of the hands on activity stands.

The V&A Museum of Childhood in Bethnal Green, East London have many events and activities on during half term. You can go and visit the ?At Home in a Dolls House? exhibition and ?Haunted House Tour.?

For something more active, Ropes and Ladders in Llanberis, Gwynedd offer outdoor activities for kids from four years old. There?s an adventure rope course especially for under 8?s, high ropes activities and all equipment is provided.
